At Balance Works, we created and hosted the Ecuador segment of the IHP Climate Change program, curating an immersive exploration of climate governance, environmental justice, and resilience. Students engaged firsthand with the complexities of development, resource management, and conservation across Ecuador’s ecosystems — from the Amazon Rainforest to the Galápagos Islands.

Our programs combined theoretical frameworks such as Buen Vivir and the Rights of Nature with field-based learning. Through visits to Indigenous territories, oil sites, and marine reserves, students connected global climate debates to lived realities while engaging with policymakers, grassroots leaders, and conservationists.

Ecuador offers a justice-centered lens on the intersections of climate change, sustainability, and governance — and Balance Works transforms this dynamic landscape into a living classroom.
