Sustainable Development: An Interdisciplinary Lens
Balance Works designed and hosted a graduate program in Sustainable Development, in collaboration with one of Ecuador’s top universities, combining theory and practice across multiple disciplines. Students explored public health, economic development, human practices in the Anthropocene, and professional growth through site visits to sustainable tourism initiatives, public health centers, major export industries, and Amazonian communities impacted by oil extraction.
Through fieldwork and dialogue with grassroots leaders, Indigenous communities, and development experts, students critically examined how global frameworks translate into local realities.
- Place-Based Learning and Systems Thinking:
Our programs merge in-country fieldwork with critical systemic analysis. Through site visits, homestays, and dialogue with grassroots leaders, scholars, and practitioners, students engage deeply with the socio-environmental dynamics shaping Ecuador’s future.
- Experiential Education with Purpose:
BalanceWorks doesn’t just host a program — we deliver a living ecosystem for experiential learning, rooted in meaningful partnerships and transformational practice.
